Participating in online forums where your potential customers gather is a great way to promote your business and generate a lot of traffic for your website. In order to be successful, though, keep these three tips in mind.

1. Sell relationships, not products.

Promoting your business in a forum is all about establishing yourself as an industry expert with a lot of valuable knowledge to share. Don’t expect gimmicky sales tactics to work in forums. The fastest way you can turn people against you in a forum is to post blatant product advertisements. People participate in forums to connect with like-minded people and share relevant information, not to be sold something.

Your best bet in promoting in forums is to always look for opportunities to respond to participants’ questions with the exact information they are looking for. This way, you will gain the respect of the community and start to establish yourself as a credible expert.

You need to sit back and listen, and wait for good opportunities to share your expert knowledge. Be professional in your approach and post on a consistent basis, and you will begin to develop a strong relationship with that community. This way, when you finally do mention your product or service casually as the answer to someone’s problem or refer a reader to your website for more information, the community will take you seriously, rather than being offended or angry.

2. Attach a signature file to all of your posts.

Your electronic signature (“sig file”) is a three to six line footer that you should attach to the bottom of your emails and forum postings. Of course, forums typically frown on obvious advertisements, but adding a sig file to posts that contain relevant, quality information is considered acceptable. Your sig file should include your name, email address, phone number, URL, and a link to an informative article or newsletter subscription offer.

3. Learn your Netiquette.

Different forums have different ideas of what is acceptable and what isn’t. What you post and how you go about promoting your business in one forum might not work so well in another. Here are some general rules you should abide by when posting in forums:

• Avoid profanity. This might be acceptable in some forums, but no matter what it isn’t professional and you can offend potential customers, so it’s best to just avoid using profanity in all situations.
• Don’t post in capital letters. Capital letters are considered YELLING and will offend and annoy your readers.
• Ignore flaming. Flames are nasty messages and emails that people may respond to you with. It’s best to just ignore them and not respond back in kind.
• Stay on topic. You will annoy readers if you jump in with random comments or questions that aren’t relevant to the conversation.
• Always be respectful of other members. You will encounter all sorts of people in forums, some with very different backgrounds and opinions than your own. Respect everyone’s right to their own point of view.
• Don’t act like you’re better than anyone else. If you can contribute to a discussion, make sure you do so in a way that doesn’t make you look arrogant.
• Never spam! Don’t post the same thing on hundreds of different forums. This is a waste of your valuable time and can also get you into a lot of trouble.

Here are 10 quick tips to jump-start your sales. As always, time and dedication and absolutely necessary for these to be effective.

1. Get online and plant your business seeds on social media sites. Create a following from social media to your business.

2. Brand your name and business. You can easily do this by just writing articles and submitting them to e zines or web sites for republishing.

3. Start an auction on your web site. The type of auction could be related to the theme of your site. You will draw traffic from auctioneers and bidders.

4. Remember to take a little time out of your day or week to brainstorm. New ideas are usually the difference between success and failure.

5. Model other successful business or people. I am not saying out right copy them, but practice some of the same habits that have made them succeed.

6. Take risks to improve your business. Sometimes businesses dont want to advertise unless its free, sometimes you have to spend money to get results.

7. Include emotional words in your advertisements. Use ones like love, security, relief, freedom, happy,
satisfaction, fun, etc.

8. Ask people online to review your web site. You can use the comments you get to improve your web site or you may turn the reviewer into a customer.

9. Out source part of your workload. You will save on most employee costs. You could out source your secretarial work, accounting, marketing, etc.

10. Combine a product and service together in a package deal. It could increase your sales. If you are
selling a book, offer an hour of consulting with it

Did you know that 83% of consumers conduct research online before making a purchase locally? Are your potential customers finding you, or are they finding your competitor? Here are five effective online advertising strategies you can use to increase your visibility and your profits.

1. Search Engine Optimization – Assuming your business has it’s own website, search engine optimization (SEO) can help your site rank higher in search results, which is essential if you want to be found online. If your site doesn’t show up on the first page of the results, chances are your customers are not finding you.

SEO is not complicated, but it can be confusing for those who don’t have the time to study the methods various search engines use to rank web sites. It is possible to spend a small fortune with very poor results. Before embarking on any SEO journey, enlist the help of a qualified professional. Be sure to check references and ask for proof of results before agreeing to work with any SEO firm.

2. Pay Per Click – Pay per click advertising works by driving potential customers to your business’s website through ads placed on other sites and in search engine results pages. Each time a potential customer clicks your ad, you pay a fee to the PPC network. The amount of the fee varies and will depend on the popularity of the keywords you target, and the competition among advertisers for that keyword.

It is worth noting that pay per click can be a risky business, since the advertiser pays regardless of whether or not a sale is actually made. It would be wise to consult an expert before beginning any pay per click advertising program.

3. Affiliate Programs – Whether you sell a physical product (think car parts or power tools) or provide a service, offering an affiliate program can be a good way to improve your sales. Affiliate programs essentially provide a business with a stable of sales people who all work on straight commission. When your customer makes a purchase through an affiliate link, the affiliate earns a small percentage of the total sale.

Affiliate programs are typically managed by an affilate manager who is in charge of providing promotional materials to affiliates, and who is available to answer any questions and handle any commission disputes that might arise. You can choose to host your own affiliate management software to track clicks and sales, or you can join an affiliate network like Commission Junction or Share A Sale to avoid any technical hassles and to take advantage of their existing network of affiliates.

4. Banner Ads – Banner ads refer to any ad space you buy (or rent) on a website. Ads can vary in size from very small to nearly full screen. Some ads pop up or under an open web page, some have moving graphics, some are interactive and change depending on the movements of the mouse pointer.

Banner ads can be purchased on individual web sites for a set period of time, but unless you can easily target the sites your potential customers are reading, this can be tricky. Banner advertising can also be sold through advertising networks. Similar to affiliate networks, advertising networks manage the technical details for you in exchange for a fee. Some popular advertising networks are Value Click Media and BlogHer.

5. Internet Yellow Pages – Internet Yellow Page Directories are increasing in popularity as more and more consumers turn to the Internet first in their search for local businesses. One recent study commissioned by comScore showed that Internet Yellow Pages gained in popularity in 2009, with 21% of respondants citing Internet Yellow Pages as their primary source of local business searches online.

Remember when you were young your parents would tell you to always look neat and smart? Even at a young age, your were beginning to learn some basic lessons in marketing yourself. Back then, your parents were teaching you that looking neat and smart creates a positive first impression so vital to your success.

However, as you grew older and wiser, and life became a lot more complicated, looking neat and smart, while still vital, is no longer adequate. Whether applying for a job, meeting with a business client, winning the heart of that very special someone, or running for public office, you need to be effective in marketing yourself to win.

Here are five effective tips you may find helpful in marketing yourself:

1. Always look neat and smart :
As a tribute to parents who have always worked hard for your success, looking neat and smart will always be on top of this list. People will always gravitate towards a winner. If you look like a winner and smell like a winner, people will treat you like a winner. And you yourself will certainly start feeling like a winner. High profile politicians and business icons who have the money even hire the services of image consultants just so they would have that winning advantage.

2. Appear bigger than you actually are:
Oftentimes, size does matter. Again, this boils down to people wanting to be with or work with winners. There seems to be this accepted mindset, actually a misconception, that winners should be big. This is why you see small local businesses adopting fancy multinational-sounding business names to make their small business appear globally big. Or they would have their business stationery printed with the flags of several countries to imply they have multinational affiliates. Maybe they do. Maybe they don’t. But they certainly look big. Having a virtual office “staff” makes you look big, too, even though your “staff” could be just your mother, sister or your wife. In Rich Dad, Poor Dad, Robert Kiyosaki refers to his cat as his “business partner” whenever he has to enter into a contract “subject to the approval of his business partner”. Business Process Outsourcing and Contact Centers are there to help create an impression that you have a big business. A business website is a very effective platform for marketing yourself as your website exposes your small business to a global market.

3. Highlight your achievements:
So what if you don’t have a Ph.D. on your resume? Or if you are just a start up business with very little credentials to show off? Do not dwell on what you do not have. Instead, focus on the benefits you can offer with what you do have and highlight these benefits when marketing yourself. Remember that almost all big industry players started out small at some point in time and were just given the opportunity to grow.

4. Be a wide reader, research a lot:
Saying the right things at the right time leaves a very positive impression when marketing yourself in front of your business clients or when applying for a job. Reading and researching on a wide variety of topics gives you a wealth of information that you will find tremendously helpful during business negotiations or job interviews. Sometimes, just one brilliant remark can be all it takes to break the ice or seal the deal. In election debates, the candidate who gives the more intelligent, more relevant answers usually gets the votes. When marketing yourself, it is not enough to just look smart, you actually have to talk smart, too.

5. Be multi-lingual and multi-cultural:
In today’s global economy, marketing yourself often requires the ability to speak several languages and be sensitive to diversities in cultures and traditions. Showing your clients you have taken extra efforts to learn about their language and culture earns you their respect and that all-important positive first impression. You can also get a lot of referrals from these clients as they usually are clannish and closely-knit.

A bounty of opportunities await you if you are effective in marketing yourself. You need to constantly keep your best foot forward, highlight your achievements, be sensitive to your markets’ needs, and always have that winning positive first impression.

Branding is the process used by a company or individual to discern his or her product or item from that of the rest. The idea of branding can be a name, symbol, and in the case of attraction marketing an identity.

The worth of branding one’s self in the attraction marketing business is to breed trust which in turn would generate a massive amount of prospects. The greater the number of prospects you have, the greater the possibility for profits. Take note that the key word in attraction marketing is the word “attraction”. Attraction is defined as attracting an object unto itself. So how does one goes about doing this? By becoming a leader in your field.

There are two types of people in this world, leaders and followers. A good leader is the one who can create and provide the most amount of working solutions to the table. So with that said, in order for you to “attract” people you first have to have the skills and expertise to offer solutions for questions your prospects may post. By providing answers on how to resolve their problems, you automatically become indispensable to them thus gaining a sense of reliance and over all trust. Remember, you are not the only one out there who can offer them with answers and solutions. There are countless numbers of individuals who are in the same business as you. So in order to keep up, or even out do the competition, you must arm yourself with the knowledge needed to be at the top of the attraction marketing business. In short, you must market and set yourself as an industry leader.

There are a lot ways out there that can help someone who is new to attraction marketing figure out this field of business better. Books, self help CD’s, seminars, are some of the ways where you can secure more insight.

Now that we got that covered, let’s go deeper.

It is instinctive for us to be afraid of disappointment. But in this business, you must learn how to manage and get rid of that fear of failing. If you tolerate failure to impede you from marketing, then you would just end up dreaming about your dream car and not driving it, imagining your dream house instead of living in it. In short, you must be ready to take chances.

Remember, attraction marketing is all about self branding and getting prospects. To get prospects, you must first position yourself as an industry leader. In order for you to become industry leader, you must be armed to the teeth with information about the industry. Do all these things and you’re on your way to becoming a household brand in the attraction marketing business.

There are several popular books and methods out there that promote seemingly wild success in time frames that might as well be considered overnight. You’ve heard the promises before. They usually involve ideas like:

* Building a fully automated internet business in just hours using other people’s money and other people’s time and energy;
* Earn a million dollars by the end of the year with this previously undisclosed secret;
* Make more than $700 per hour stuffing envelopes from your kitchen.

You know, if it walks like a duck, swims like a duck, and quacks like a duck, it probably is indeed a duck…your odds of finding success using shady tactics like these are probably about as good as winning the jackpot in the lottery (or getting struck by lightning, for that matter).

So, when our best instinct tells us that success overnight isn’t going to be realistic, we owe it to ourselves to stop and think before falling prey to some crazy “business” idea. But let’s get back to the main topic at hand…

Is It Possible To Find Internet Marketing Success In 5 Hours Per Week?

Of course it is! It simply depends on two things—how you define success and how many weeks you’re willing to keep on plugging away at building a business.

In other words, it’s not unusual to define success as making that first sale of the product or service you’re promoting. Making a sale would certainly be fairly defined as successful, and it’s absolutely possible to get to that point in just a few hours of work.

The same can be said for investing time and energy, just 5 hours at a time each week, for weeks, months, and years until the desired results are achieved. Long-term success does take time and energy, but all mighty accomplishments do take time—for example it’s not all that unusual for a traditional small business to be in business for 5 years before they finally realize their first profitable month.

But the really under-appreciated thing here is that for every 5 hours (or 5 minutes) that you invest in your business, you’re actually doing something—building something—on the road to success. It’s the same reason that so many vividly successful entrepreneurs will tell you that at first, they had to keep their day jobs while squeezing in a few hours to devote to their own future businesses at night after the kids were put to bed. In this instance, working 5 hours per week towards success could be defined as quite a remarkable feat of accomplishment!

And it really all does pay off in the long run. Sure, for some, achieving true success is going to take years and years; for others, it’s going to take a lifetime (and for a lucky few…well, they might win big by hitting the jackpot tonight). Keep on working hard and you will find the success that you deserve!

In any affiliate marketing guide you may find online, books or other media format, you will notice a few critical points to your lucrative affiliate marketing business. These points are applicable to any niche market you might go for. If you do not apply them, you may not benefit the achievement that you would like. No matter how much experience you may have.

Let us look into each of these vital keys here.

Having a useful product alone is not enough to work in this business model. You need to enter the right market at the right time. If you find consistant traffic to your site who are looking for ways to resolve their current issue and you can provide them the solution, then you will get some sales. With that said, having laser-targeted traffic is critical in your affiliate marketing success.

There are plenty methods you can get specific people to your site. I divided them into free traffic and paid traffic. You can get free traffic with search engine optimization, forum marketing, audio and video marketing or article marketing. PPC and media buying are some model of paid traffic.

One more vital secret is your website must be able to collect your visitors’ information such as email address. Many times, your visitors will not purchase from you straight away. That is 95% loss of opportunity. But you can keep in touch with them by providing more valuable information using email platform.

You actually need to follow up with a person as frequently as possible. One of the common ways to persuade your visitors to give their email address is by offering something for free like a report. The report must contains relevant and high quality information.

In affiliate marketing, you have the flexibility to expand or even switch to other niches. Why is this important?

To be a affiliate marketing experts, you must know what is working and what is not. When there is a sudden flood of demand in other niche, you can go in with minimum risk because you do not have to spend a lot in affiliate marketing. You can increase your success rate by building more website in various niches. Each website can sell a specific product to a targeted group of people. After completed one website, find another niche to work on.

There you have it, some of the critical points that you can learn in any affiliate marketing guide. It is advisable to keep learning. In order to succeed in affiliate marketing, you just cannot stop learning and start putting in more actions.

But if that’s all it took, wouldn’t we all be attracting enough clients?

I’m sure you’ve tried one or more of these things at least to some degree. And I’m sure you’ve had at least some successes now and again. But are you able to make it work consistently for your business?

If not, what could be going on?

First, let’s agree to a definition of marketing. Here is my favorite one for small, service-based businesses:

“Marketing is the use of strategies to generate a constant supply of high-quality leads for your service business.” Simple to understand and speaks directly to the results we want.

OK, so doesn’t this definition take us right back to what we said we already knew about marketing… a web site, Yellow Pages advertising, networking, etc.? Well maybe, but first it’s important to understand why your current marketing activities aren’t producing consistent results.

Put your message and materials to the “So What?” test.

Start with your core marketing message. Pull out your most frequently used marketing tool and read it out loud. Put it to the “So What?” test.

After you read it out loud, is it possible that your intended audience could respond with… “So What?”… “Why do I care?”… or “What’s in it for me?” If your message doesn’t tell your intended audience what solutions you are providing to address their issues/problems/challenges, and how it relates to the benefits they’ll receive from your services, then a “So What?” response is exactly what you might expect.

Messages and materials that are all about who you are and the history of your company and what services you offer and why you’re so qualified to provide these services and how you partner with your clients to achieve superior results, etc. are likely to fail the “So What?” test.

Challenge all of your current marketing materials. Remember, it’s the intended audience that counts. What’s in it for them? Why should they care?

Listen, if your marketing is consistently generating all the high-quality leads you can handle, then don’t change a thing. But if you haven’t quite figured out how to generate a constant supply of leads for your service business, then you owe it to yourself to challenge your current marketing tools by putting them to the “So What?” test.

Try these ideas:

* Challenge all of your marketing tools that aren’t contributing to consistently generate leads for your service business – even the ones that have worked in the past. Could you improve the message and get a higher return? Put it to the “So What?” test.

* Try the X’s and O’s test (especially with the last letter you wrote). Mark an X every time your marketing piece mentions your name, company name, or the words “I” or “me”. Mark and O every time it mentions the prospects name, company name, or the word “you” or “your”. If the X’s outnumber the O’s, rewrite it before using it again.

* Try gathering up a group of people you can trust to give you very honest feedback. You’re not just looking for proof readers, but individuals who will give you honest feedback on whether your materials pass the “So What?” test.

* Be prepared for some negative feedback, but more importantly, be prepared to do something about it.

* Don’t just accept opinions, but try to get down to realistic response. For example: “I think this part is too wordy and detailed.” (opinion) versus “I got pretty lost and confused with the level of detail in this part.” (response)

* Remember that it is the intended audience that counts. If it’s not clear who the message is intended for when it’s received, then how can it pass the “So What?” test.

Facebook is one of the most popular social networking websites on the internet today. With a very large audience, Facebook offers unlimited potential for sales and marketing success. Follow these steps to grow your business on Facebook.

1.Business Profile
Update your business profile with up to date information. It should describe what your business is about and the products or services it provides. Also, make sure you include the business for your website.

If you have other members of your business, put them into your business profile. This will enable other members of your business to spread word of it to possible consumers who may be interested in your products or services. You want to allow your business to reach as many consumers as possible.

2.Engage in Groups
Facebook offers an unlimited number of groups based on a wide variety of topics and interests. These groups allow you to target related areas of your business. Look for groups to join in which users who belong to these groups would possibly be interested in your products.

3.Events and Posts
Facebook has a feature where you could post events for your business. Take advantage of this by scheduling events in which your fans (the term Facebook uses for people who follow your business) could attend. You could use this to provide a special sale in which customers could attend. This can also work for “online only” events. You could announce the starting date of a time and provide a link to a product at a special price. This could enhance the traffic to your site and the sales of your product.

Also, keep your fans updated regarding your business. If you have articles and posts about your business, you could simply link to your website on your Facebook page. Choose a method which works best for you. You should be updating your Facebook page on a consistent basis to keep your fans up to date regarding your business.

4.Don’t Always “Sell”
One of the worst mistakes you can do on Facebook, or any other social networking platform, is to always try to directly sell products or services. People don’t want to be constantly bombarded by advances from a business.

Develop relationships with those in groups. You don’t want to keep throwing your product out there after every post you make. Begin by writing well-informed posts and responses to help other people or to contribute knowledge. Answer a few questions and get involved. This will allow others to see you and your business in a positive light. This will also expose users to your business in a more natural way. As they become more comfortable with you and get to know you and your business, they will naturally see what you have to offer. Also, they will be less likely to immediately disregard what you are selling when you do advertise and sell in your posts.

While you shouldn’t always sell your product or services, you should be aware of when to sell. Once you have developed a relationship with your customers, don’t be afraid to tell them about your new products or services, or to keep them updated with your business. Post occasional news items regarding your business in the groups you are a member of, and always keep the Facebook page of your business updated.

In addition to timely selling, it is important to keep customers interested. One great way to do this is to host specials on Facebook. You could even try placing exclusive Facebook discounts for your products or services on your Facebook page or in the groups. This would stimulate interests and sales for your business. Also, the consumer base will be more likely to grow if you post specials and deals in which your customers would be interested.

5.Paid Advertising
With Facebook’s unlimited potential due to their high volume, it is worth considering paid advertising on Facebook. Facebook offers amazing potential and powerful ad systems.

One of Facebook’s most powerful features is its ability to target users. Advertisers can now target users based on a wide variety of filters: location, age, birthday, sex, keywords, education, workplaces, relationship, interested in, languages, and connections. This will allow you to target who could be likely to be interested in your product or services. This is especially useful for those who have business which cater to very specific demographics.

You can also track how well your ad is performing. Clicks, click through rates (CTR), actions, action rates, and more can be tracked by Facebook’s functionality to produce custom reports for your ads. Make sure you are aware of how your ads are doing and adjust accordingly. This is also a great way to test out Facebook’s ad system to see if you should invest more money. Remember to start out with a reasonable test amount to get a more accurate reading of ad performance, though.

If you decide to use Facebook’s paid advertising system, keep your goals in mind. Carefully target users who would be interested in your product, and use your financial resources wisely. Never over target customers. The most important thing to do is to develop interest in your product or services and then build these relationships. Then you will be able to sell to this customer base. Also, keep track on the resources that you are used and compare them to other paid advertising methods you are using, if applicable. You will then be able to evaluate whether Facebook is a good way to advertise your services or products your business offers.
